Description: founded in blackpool, england by trevor wilkinson (see how he came up with the name?!), TVR began producing one-offs and specials in the late 1940s. It wasn't until 1958 however, with the introduction of the Grantura (their first real production model), that things really took off. Featuring a tubular chassis, with four-wheel independent suspension and a very pretty fibreglass body, it was available with a variety of engine options, including the legendary coventry climax overhead cam unit. Offered here is an early mk.ii version built in 1960. Originally a right hand drive car delivered new to england, with a light blue body and a coventry climax engine, it passed through a succession of owners before coming to the us in the late seventies. Somewhere around this time, it was converted to left hand drive, painted red and fitted with a 1,500 cc twin overhead cam, osca engine. The body and interior are in good shape for the marque and the car runs and drives well. The driving experience is further enhanced by the presence of the front disc brakes. Its rarity (only around 400 were built), coupled with its sporting nature, make it an ideal candidate for vintage racing and rally events, where it will undoubtedly stand out from the usual, more mundane classic crowd.
